Consonant Blends/Digraph Collection

The Consonant Blends/Digraphs Collection (yellow borders) consists of components parallel to the alphabet collection for both students and teachers. They provide opportunities to focus on consonant blends and digraphs, both in isolation and within words. Clear environmental photographs provide meaningful connections for children from diverse backgrounds and can be used to enhance oral language development for second language learners. Full-color photographic images for each blend or digraph are repeated throughout the collection.

Use them at teaching stations for modelling and demonstrating letter blend and word recognition strategies and explicit phonics and phonemic skills instruction with the whole class and/or small groups. Keep them accessible within the classroom environment for independent activities in learning centers and in individual and group writing folders or authors' toolboxes.
