Leanna TraillTM is first and foremost a teacher. She is a well-known New Zealand educator who conducts seminars, institutes and workshops in the United States of America and internationally. Leanna trained as a Reading Recovery teacher at the University of Auckland, and holds a Higher Diploma of Teaching in Teaching Reading, The Reading Process, Children's Literature, Poetry in the Classroom, Teaching English as a Second Language, and Beginning Teacher Supervision. During her twenty eight years with the Department of Education in New Zealand, she taught in both regular and Special Education classrooms. She served as a Reading Recovery Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Consultant Advisor to Junior Classes and Inspector of Elementary Schools. As an administrator within the New Zealand educational system, Leanna played an integral role in developing and leading in-service courses for teachers and principals. These covered curriculum development, school supervision, policy implementation, and assessment and evaluation of teaching and learning in elementary schools, locally and nationally. Over the past twelve years she has consulted extensively throughout the United States. Leanna is a frequent guest keynote and featured speaker, institute and workshop presenter at World, National, State and District conferences. These include Reading Recovery, Whole Language, Bi-Lingual Education, Migrant Education, Chapter 1, Special Education, Early Childhood, Head Start, Principal/Administrator Associations and Parent Education conferences.
